Presented
above are four out of five World War One prints of paintings commissioned by the U.S. Navy Bureau of Navigation to commemorate heroic actions in the War. At the bottom of each print is the name of the ship, the name of the individual who received an award for valor and a description of the action for which the award was received. We are auctioning one print at a time and the winning bidder has his choice of selecting which one he wants.
CONDITION:
Considering their approximately 83 year age, the picture areas of all the prints are in excellent condition. The borders on a couple of them may be stained, and there are some small tears when they were removed from the Philadelphia Public Ledger where they appeared in the Sunday Supplement in series. All the prints can be framed.
The following are listed in chronological order of when the event took place:

When he saw the German torpedo coming he realized the hit would be near the stern of the CASSIN and he made an effort to release the depth charge before it occurred, but was not successful and gave his life in trying to save his ship and shipmates.
Ingram was awarded the Medal of Honor, posthumously.

SURRENDER OF THE GERMAN HIGH SEAS FLEET
On November 21, 1918, the German High-Seas Fleet surrendered to the English Grand Fleet accompanied by the American battleship Force, at a rendezvous about forty miles east of May Osland, which guards the entrance to the Firth of Forth.
The Grand Fleet was ordered in two parallel columns six miles apart, between which the surrendered ships proceeded and were escorted to their anchorage for internment.
The American Force occupied position in the middle of the north line of the Grand Fleet.
The English and American ships flew their battle flags; the Germans their national colors, which at sundown were lowered, never to be raised again.
