portrays a magnificent panorama of a bustling shipyard i
n full operation for the emergency construction of ships for the war effort.
The artist illustrates America's strenuous efforts to overcome Germany's lead in heavy industry. The Shipping Board, under the leadership of Charles Schwab, built 26,000 ships in the 20 month period the United States was at war.
Jonas Lie was a celebrated American painter who was famous for his maritime paintings and colorful impressionistic style.
This poster is rare to find in this size, is conservation backed, and did receive restoration to the lower right and left corners margins and has a crease in the middle from being folded. The colors and all printed areas are in exceptional good condition for a century old art work. Owned by the seller in his personal collection since 1986.
